Gyms used to be different places. They were once places for you to come and work hard. Period. No excuse making, no griping, no checking your phone, no Twitter or Instagram, no TVs to watch while you casually strolled on a treadmill.

But there’s been a huge shift in recent years that has turned gyms from the hard work establishments they once were to something totally different. Today, gyms are little better than feel-good establishments supporting shallow values and ‘get fit quick’ routes to living healthier lifestyles.
