Stop Looking Up When You Squat
The position of your head when you squat is crucial, and here’s why: the body follows the position of the head. Tilting your head up during heavy squats squeezes the spinal discs in your neck and forces the hips forward prematurely, increasing knee flexion and possibly leading to injury.

On the other hand, looking down at your feet when you squat causes unnecessary flexion of the spine and can ruin your balance.

The best thing to do? Simply keep your head, neck and shoulders in line with the torso, maintaining a straight line from the hips to the head. Slightly tuck your chin, point your toes up, and sink your weight into your heels. This keeps the spine neutral and protected during the exercise.

How do you usually hold your head when you squat? Are you guilty of looking too far up or down?
