Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Valerie Rao, broke down and began to sob during her testimony at the trial of Donald Smith.
Smith, 61, was accused of kidnapping, raping, and murdering Cherish Perrywinkle.
Prosecution displayed photos of the child’s savaged and brutalized body in court, which reduce the jury and examiner to tears.

Dr. Valerie Rao explained to the court that Cherish had sustained severe injuries all over her body after being strangled with a piece of clothing and violently raped.
Upon viewing photographs of her battered body in court on Tuesday, the medical examiner began to cry and was unable to continue.
